Kathy Suzanne Hubbard Steele

Kathy Suzanne Hubbard Steele, 76, of Kannapolis, passed away on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis.

Kathy was born September 26, 1949, in Iredell County, North Carolina, to the late Hester Norman Hubbard and the late Sarah Frances Shrum Hubbard.

She was also preceded in death by her brother, Gary Norman Hubbard and her aunt, Alice Carney.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM – 1:45 PM on Friday, August 7, 2026, at Parkwood Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow on Friday, August 7, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Parkwood Baptist Church in Concord officiated by Rev. Michael Waters. Burial will immediately follow at Carolina Memorial Park Cemetery, 601 Mt. Olivet Road, Concord. Kathy was full of life and loved bright colors; please feel free to attend in bright colorful attire.

Survivors include husband of 57 years, Jerry Steele, of the home; sons Jonathan (Susan) and Nathan (Christi), and grandchildren Max (Bree), Parker (Kayla), Jadyn, and Caleb Steele; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.

Kathy was a lifelong resident of Kannapolis and a proud graduate of A.L. Brown High School. In 1968, while working at the Rowan Dairy Bar, she met the love of her life, Jerry, and the two soon began a wonderful journey together. Kathy later worked in the office at Fieldcrest Cannon, where she built many lasting friendships. She was a longtime member of the Kannapolis Pilot Club and enjoyed traveling with Jerry throughout the United States and Canada with dear friends, creating countless cherished memories along the way.

Kathy found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She loved tending to her flower gardens and houseplants, playing recreational softball in her younger years, and spending quiet moments enjoying cross-stitch, crocheting, and working puzzles. Kathy loved Christmas baking with her grandchildren and making chocolate chip cookies and fudge. She never missed an opportunity to support her grandchildren, faithfully attending their games, performances, and special events. Her camera was rarely far from her side, as she treasured capturing life's precious moments with the people she loved most.

A devoted patriot and woman of deep faith, Kathy was proud of her country and unwavering in her love for the Lord. She was an enthusiastic Duke basketball fan and found great encouragement and fellowship through her beloved Sunday School class at Parkwood Baptist Church. Above all, Kathy will be remembered for her loving heart, her steadfast devotion to her family and friends, and the countless memories she created that will be treasured for generations to come.
