Justin Corey Tapp

Justin Corey Tapp, 35, of Kannapolis, died November 2, 2024, at Novant Presbyterian Medical Center in Charlotte from injuries sustained from a motorcycle accident on November 1, 2024. 

There will be a celebration of life Memorial Service for Corey at Whitley’s Funeral Home Chapel with Pastors Randall Ritchie, Brian Duncan, and Corey Allie officiating on Saturday, November 16 from 1:00 to 3:00 PM. 

Corey was born July 27, 1989, in Henderson County NC, he was the son of Deidre Parris Friesner of York, SC. Corey was a long-time area resident, graduating from A. L. Brown High School and Rowan-Cabarrus Co. Community College. Corey worked for the last five years as a mechanic in the service department at Hendricks BMW, where he recently received the Service of Excellence Award. 

Corey was known for his love of cars and cooking, but most of all his fierce love for his children and his desire to surround himself with family. To know Corey was to love him and know that he would do anything for you. Corey had a huge heart and he gave the best hugs. He loved making others laugh, and oh how he had the best laugh of all. 

Corey is survived by his wife Brittney Sloop Tapp and their two children Braylen Robert Tapp and Ella Grace Tapp of the home. Corey is also survived by his step-father James Friesner, sister Amanda Jones and her family including husband Willie Jones III and their son Grayson Jones, also sister Jessica Sexty and her family including husband Bryan Sexty and their children, Blake and Makayla Sexty. Also survived by in-laws Rick and Cindy Sloop, and sister and brother in law Sara and John Goforth. Corey also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who loved him dearly.
