Julie Ann Ward

Julie Ann Ward, 65, of Concord, passed away on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at Atrium Health Cabarrus after a long battle with cancer. She was born in West Virginia on February 21, 1961, the only child of the late Stephen and Hilda Streets Serback.

Julie was raised near Pittsburgh, PA where she later met the love of her life, James Franklin Ward. They were married in 1984. They raised two sons, James Alan Ward and Stephen Douglas Ward. The family moved to North Carolina nearly 20 years ago. Julie worked at Duquesne Light Nuclear Power plant in Pittsburgh, and she is currently working for EPRI in Charlotte as a Senior Technical Assistant.

Julie was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed spending time with her family with their season tickets at the races. She loved going to the beach. Julie enjoyed reading and crocheting. Julie was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a strong and independent woman, and she was dedicated to her family. She will be missed dearly.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, James Ward; two sons, James Alan (Dana) Ward and Stephen Ward; two granddaughters, Madilyn and Aubrey Ward; other relatives and many friends.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM – 7:30 PM on Monday, June 22, 2026, at Whitley's Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at 11:00 AM in the Pavilion at Carolina Memorial Park Cemetery, 601 Mt. Olivet Rd., Kannapolis.
