Obituary

On February 28, 2026, Joyce took the trip of her lifetime. She went Paradise to meet her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. And although we are left behind with broken hearts, we have all these memories to hold onto and cherish.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, Isaac Newton Benfield, and Lillie Mae Hubbard Benfield. As well as brothers, Fred Benfield and Jimmy Menius; and sisters, Janet Foster, Irene Crowe, Donnell Joyner; and daughter, Rhonda Burton.

There's a saying that goes... Live, Laugh, Love. Joyce Measimer did all of those with the utmost enthusiasm. She lived life fully, her laugh was a joyful sound, and she loved unconditionally. One of her favorite 'past times' was watching her western movies. Two of her favorite movies were Dancing with Wolves and Jeremiah Johnson, which I might add, watching time and time again.

Joyce enjoyed hitting the road to the beach just as much as going to the mountains for the fall leaves. She also loved the snow, as long as she could just view it from the warmth and comfort of her home.

A great love of hers was decorating for the seasons. She did so with great anticipation; decorating for the upcoming season before the last season had its due time. She loved the buttercups in spring... as much as pumpkins in the fall. She loved your children and grandchildren as she loved her own.

To have Joyce in your life was a true blessing. Your happiness was her happiness. Your sadness was her sadness. She was your prayer warrior when you needed prayer. She was a dedicated, dependable, hard working employee. Example, working 35 years at Lebo's in Kannapolis. Joyce was a strong, determined, intelligent, caring, beautiful woman. Her attributes could go on and on.

And to all of those who have accepted Jesus as their Lord and Savior, we will see Joyce again when we reach Paradise.

She is survived by her husband Pascal H. Measimer, of almost 69 yrs; and her sisters, Ann Bernice Smith and Joyce Faye Ritter; her daughters Crystal Hengel (Pete) and Tammy Measimer; her grandchildren are Shawn Measimer, Eric Ennis, Nick Puckett, Aaron Ennis, Jonathan Biles and Jessica Biles. She also has 26 great grandchildren and 3 great, great grandchildren and numerous loving nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 12:00pm to 2:00pm on Saturday, March 7, 2026 at Whitley’s Funeral Home in Kannapolis. The funeral service will immediately follow the visitation beginning at 2:00pm with Rev. Pete Hengel officiating. Burial will be at Kannapolis City Cemetery.

In memory of Joyce, please bring a daffodil/buttercup to her visitation.
