Obituary

Johnny Ray Alexander Sr., 69, of Kannapolis, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 9, 2026.

Johnny was born on March 24, 1957, in Cabarrus County. He was the cherished son of the late Ray Alexander and Jessie Ritch Alexander. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Vickie Frances Alexander; daughter, Amanda Sustaite; brother, William Alexander; and sister, Margaret Sizemore.

Johnny will be remembered for his warm heart, quick wit, and the laughter he shared so freely with everyone around him. Johnny was a jokester; he had a gift for making people smile and believed life was better when it was filled with humor.

He loved spending time in the woods deer hunting, enjoyed getting lost in science fiction movies, and was an avid reader who always appreciated a good story. Johhny will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Those left to cherish his memory include his daughter, Christina Alexander; son, Johnny Alexander, Jr.; step-children, Charles (Kim) Blalock, daughters Victoria Suzanne Austin, Kelly Alexander; brother Glenn Alexander; he is also survived by grandkids, Sandon Sherrill, Douglas Alexander, Noah & Wesley Blalock, Jesse Joplin, Mili, Jayna, James and John Austin, Katelyn Price, Chris Joplin, Bianca Blanco along with great-grandkids, Talulah Sherrill, Hudson Joplin, and Hazel Sherrill.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00am on Saturday, July 18, 2026 at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis.
