John Joseph Kehs

John Kehs, 73, of Kannapolis, NC passed away at September 20, 2026 at Levine & Dickson Hospice House.

John was the son of Cyril and Rita Kehs. He grew up in Bally, PA, and attended Bloomsburg University. John worked as a controller for Stanley Tools for over 19 years, before working for Shattershield, and later Voith Paper.

John met his wife, Carol, in Boyertown PA. They were happily married for 50 years, having recently celebrated their wedding anniversary. Over the years, they welcomed two children and lived in Pennsylvania, Upstate New York and Vermont before settling in North Carolina.

During his younger years, John enjoyed playing softball, biking, tennis and computers. He was always happy to help neighbors and friends with tech problems. But most of all he loved his family. He was a loving and devoted husband, Dad and Pappy, and will be deeply missed.

In his later years, John struggled with Multiple Sclerosis. His ability to smile and maintain a positive attitude despite his condition was truly inspiring. He found happiness in being with family, rooting for his Phillies, and sharing wild stories about growing up as one of 16 kids and attending parochial school. He was able to live happily at home until the very end under Carol's loving care.

He is survived by his wife, Carol Kehs; children, Stephen (Sherifa) Kehs and Andrea (Brian) Safrit; grandchildren, Carlin, Theo, Tyler and Chloe; and numerous brothers and sisters. He was preceded in death by his parents, Cyril and Rita Kehs; identical twin brother, Jimmy Kehs; brother Francis Kehs; and sister, Jane DiCindio.
