Obituary: John Richard "Rick" Johnston, beloved husband, 71, of Concord passed away Sunday, August 6, 2017 at his home. Rick was born March 27, 1946 in Iredell Co. to the late Paul Parks Johnston and Merian Lucille Willford Johnston. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Joy Poplin Johnston, sister, Maxine Cranshaw of Concord, and brother Paul Parks Johnston of San Diego, CA. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday at Carolina Memorial Park with the Rev. Mike Hubbard officiating and Navy Honor Guard.
