Jimmy Wayne Leigh

Jimmy Wayne Leigh, 83, of Rockwell, passed away at Tucker Hospice House on October 20, 2025, after a period of declining health.

The family will receive friends at Whitley’s Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Thursday, October 23. His funeral will be held at 1:00 PM Friday at Whitley’s Funeral Chapel with Rev. Gary Posey and Rev. Lewis Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park.

Jimmy was born on December 8, 1941, in Cabarrus Co., a son of the late James E. Leigh and Pearl Brantley Leigh. In addition to his parents, Jimmy was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Bell Leigh and his granddaughter, Britney Thompson. Jimmy was also the youngest of six siblings. He was preceded in death by his brother, Thomas “Bud” Leigh and by four sisters, Betty J. Stewart, Frances Festerman, Peggy Love and Beulah "Dude" Speagle.

Those left to cherish his memory include his sons; Jeffery Leigh (Pam) and Barry Leigh (Angela), both of Kannapolis and his daughter, Tammy Saj (Shawn) of Rockwell. Jimmy is also survived by 2 grandchildren; Tiffani Cook and Jennifer Carter (Justin) and a great-granddaughter, Nevaeh.

Jimmy was a lifelong area resident and longtime member of Victory Temple in Concord. He was a veteran of the US Navy. Jimmy worked for many years in pest control with Orkin and then Arrow, where he retired as a Branch Manager. Jimmy loved fishing and Baseball. Duke and the Dodgers were his teams. He loved spending time with his family and taking care of his cats. He will be deeply missed.
