Jimmy Ray Cooper, 79, of Kannapolis, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 25, 2025.
Jimmy was born and raised in Concord, North Carolina. He graduated from Hartsell high school and proudly served his country in the Air Force for over three years. He was saved on December 13, 1981, at Poplar Grove B.C. Concord, N.C. Jimmy was employed as a Truck driver and die cutter for many years for Snyder Printing. Jimmy retired from there and went on to do volunteer work. His volunteer work included being a Gideon, a Volunteer Fire fighter with Poplar Tent fire department, a Rock of Ages Prison Ministry volunteer, and a Sunday School Superintendent. He was known as Papaw Jim to many of the kids from New Grace Baptist Church.
Jim enjoyed fishing, telling others about Jesus, serving at the Church and sitting in his rocking chair and recliner.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, James and Ollie Cooper, his sister, Helen Louise Cooper, his daughter, Julie Rae Doncheske and his former wife Helen H. Cooper.
Left to cherish his memory are, his beloved wife April Cooper, his dear stepson, Steven Barr, his brothers Jack Cooper and Bill Cooper, his sister Joann Pressley, 3 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and many friends. He will be forever in our hearts.
Friends and relatives are kindly invited to attend the visitation on Saturday, May 31st at New Grace Baptist church in Concord from 11-12pm followed by the service and then burial at Carolina Memorial Park Cemetery.
