Jimmie Lanier Moon, 88, of Kannapolis passed away on Sunday, November 10, 2024, at the landings of Cabarrus in Kannapolis.
Jimmie’s funeral will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, November 13, at Bethpage United Methodist Church with Pastor McKenzie Sefa officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 1:00 to 2:00 PM prior to the funeral.
Jimmie was born July 1, 1936, in Madison Co. GA, a son of the late Oliver C. and Gussie Smith Moon. In addition to his parents, Jimmie was preceded in death by his brothers, Albert and William Moon and 2 sisters, Carolyn Edmonson and Glennette Beaver, and a great grandson, Chandler Craig Moon, (son of Jay and Ashley Moon).
Jimmie is survived by his wife of 66 years, Nancye Jane Chandler Moon, of the home, his 3 sons, Gregory Moon (Ludi) of Kannapolis, Kevin Moon (Terri) of Landis and Joel Moon (Lori) of Lexington. He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren; Jay, Noah, Hannah Ryan and Brandon Moon and Julie Misenheimer and 12 great-grandchildren. Jimmie is also survived by his brother Ronnie Moon (Nickie) and sister, Marion Anderson, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Jimmie was a longtime area resident and longtime member of Bethpage United Methodist Church. Jimmie graduated from A. L. Brown High School. He served in the US Airforce during the mid-50’s in Germany. Upon returning to the states, he worked for FMC Inc as a truck driver, retiring in 2001. Jimmie enjoyed golf and was a member of the Kannapolis Golf Course.
