Jessie Rose Leadingham Adkins, 83, of Concord, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on June 8, 2026.
Born on November 26, 1942, in Seth, West Virginia, to Roscoe and Lottie Leadingham, Jessie lived a life centered on faith, family, and love. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend whose kindness and warm spirit touched countless lives.
Jessie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Lenard Adkins; her sons, Darren Segan and David Segan Taylor; her granddaughter, Whitney Rakes Vesterfelt; her parents, Roscoe and Lottie Leadingham; and several family members.
She is survived by her loving daughters, Darla Rakes and husband Michael, and Tonya Gusler and husband Ron, her brother, David Leadingham. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren, Jeffrey Adkins, Brayden Rakes and wife Heather, and Nicolas Gusler; and her treasured great-grandchildren, Akira Adkins, Blake Rakes, Beau Rakes, and Baker Rakes, who brought her immeasurable joy and happiness.
Anyone who met Jessie quickly learned of her deep love for God and her unwavering devotion to her family. She never missed an opportunity to share her faith, offer encouragement, or speak proudly of those she loved. While she cherished all of her family, her great-grandchildren held a particularly special place in her heart and brought a bright light to her later years.
Jessie was known for her youthful spirit and vibrant personality. Many of her closest friends were decades younger than she was, a testament to her energy and ability to connect with people of all ages. She had a gift for making others feel valued and loved. Her kind heart left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Though her family grieves at her passing, they find comfort knowing that her faith sustained her throughout her life and that her legacy of love, compassion, and devotion will continue through the generations she leaves behind.
In accordance with her wishes, Jessie will be laid to rest in her family cemetery in West Virginia.
Jessie will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.
