Jerry Wayne Dwiggins

Jerry Wayne Dwiggins, age 85, beloved husband of Rebekah (Liles) Dwiggins, passed away February 15, 2023. Jerry was born and raised in Kannapolis and was the son of the late Joe and Esther(Sides) Dwiggins.

Besides his wife Rebekah (Becky), Jerry is survived by a brother, Hoyle (Bob) Dwiggins, son, Jamey Dwiggins, daughter, Angie(Barry) Griffin, grandson , Matthew Griffin and granddaughter, Megan (Garrett) Deal, brother-in-law, Phil (Diana) Hartis and many loving nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by a brother, Leroy Dwiggins, sister-in-law, Anna Dwiggins and sister-in-law, Mary Dwiggins.

Jerry was a graduate of A.L. Brown High School, class of 1955 and later graduated with a degree in electronics from RCCC. He also served his country in the US Army. He worked for Vision Cable (later Time Warner Cable) as a service technician for over 20 years. Prior to his employment with Vision Cable, he operated his family’s restaurant in North Kannapolis, Colonial Grill. Jerry was a member of North Kannapolis United Methodist Church.

He was an avid sports fan, enjoying rooting for the Atlanta Braves, Charlotte Hornets and Carolina Panthers. He loved working with computers and was known for helping many in the community with computer issues. He was a golfer in his younger days. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, as he was many times the life of the party. He loved telling jokes and using his wit and humor to entertain us all. He loved traditional country music. And, to please his wife, he took her country line dancing.

A service to celebrate Jerry’s life will be held Sunday, February 19th at 4PM in North Kannapolis United Methodist Church, Kannapolis. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to North Kannapolis United Methodist Church, 1307 N. Main St., Kannapolis, NC 28081. Whitley’s Funeral Home is serving the Dwiggins family.
