Jeffery “Scottie” Jones, 61, of Concord, passed away on Saturday, November 22, 2025.
Scottie was born on March 11, 1964, in Mecklenburg County. He was a cherished son of the late James Asper Jones and Ruby Jeanette Prince Jones. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Wayne Asper Jones.
A true NASCAR fan at heart, Scottie never missed a race. He cheered faithfully for his favorite driver, Bill Elliott, and those race-day afternoons were sacred—his time to tune out the world and soak in the excitement of the track. Football ignited a familiar spark in him, especially when the Minnesota Vikings played. He had been a high school football player himself at Central Cabarrus, achieving the rank of team captain. This leadership role allowed him to deeply enhance his understanding of the game. His passion was matched by his dedication to basketball; he also played the sport and watched every NC State Wolfpack game with unwavering focus. He was an outstanding athlete in both areas.
When he was not enjoying his sports, Scottie found peace and happiness outdoors riding his motorcycle. He loved the fresh air and the freedom of being outside. Naturally, the beach held a special place in his heart. Scottie will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Those left to cherish his memory include his sister, Rhonda Jones and numerous loving aunts, uncles, and cousins.
The family will receive friends from 6:00pm to 8:00pm on Monday, December 1, 2025 at Whitley’s Funeral Home in Kannapolis. The funeral service will be held the following day at 11:00am on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, in Whitley’s Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jeff Rushing officiating. Burial will be at Carolina Memorial Park.
