Janet Lee "Gammy" (Cookenour) Phifer

Janet Lee “Gammy” Cookenour Phifer, 71 went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 12, 2020 at Atrium Health Cabarrus following a period of declining health.

Janet was born March 4, 1949 in Sullivan County, Tn., a daughter of the late JC Cookenour and Arlis Marie Parish Cookenour Lane.

Janet was of the Baptist Faith. In early life she had worked at What-A-Burger #5 and later #10. She also was a C.N.A. and had worked at Phillip Morris.

Her greatest joy was taking care of her great nieces and nephews and making crafts with them.

Survivors include a brother, multiple sisters and multiple nieces and nephews.

There will be a private interment service for Mrs. Phifer at the Salisbury National Cemetery.

Whitley’s Funeral Home is serving the family of Mrs. Phifer.
