Obituary: James Edward Robinson, 59, of Concord passed away on June 19, 2019 at his home unexpectedly. He was born February 22, 1960 in Great Neck, New York, a son of the late Raymond Phillips and Ella Ruth Robinson. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 5 to 7 PM Monday, July 1, 2019 at Whitley's Funeral Home in Kannapolis. Josi James Robinson dedicated his life to the teaching, learning and advancement of martial arts. As a martial arts teacher, he made a difference and impacted the lives of thousands. He was the founder of Running Fist Kung-fu. Many say he had the fastest hands that they ever saw. His martial background began in 1964 and included Shotokan, Judo, Tai Chi Chuan, Five Animal Kung Fu and Wing Chun., He is a founding member of World Warrior Alliance aka WWA and a co-founder of World Warrior Camp, which was the largest martial arts camp in the NY area. He leaves behind a legacy of students and teachers around the world. James also has various Hall of Fame inductions and awards for his time and dedication to the Martial Arts. He is a member of the Triple Threat Seminars Team and, to this day, still traveled nationally and internationally conducting seminars and promoting martial arts. He is the former United States Director for the American Federation of Martial Arts aka AFMA. Josi Robinson can be seen in the 2012 movie "Here Comes the Boom" as the "Factory Fighter" with long time student and friend Kevin James. James is also featured in the books Modern Masters of Martial Arts and Who's Who in the Martial Arts - Legends Edition. James is survived by the love of his life for 24 years, Diana Licatese, children, Jayden, Jayson, Nicole, James, Justin, Lauren, Victoria, Aunt Betty Robinson, Uncle Don Robinson, Cousin's Astroon Robinson, Charmaine, Cheroll, and Shavon followed by multiple nieces and nephews.
