James Harold Reavis

James Harold Reavis, 90, of Harrisburg, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 10, 2025.

James was born on March 18, 1935 in Iredell County. He was a cherished son of the late Harold Reavis and Rudy Hollifield Reavis. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy June Farebee Taylor Reavis and his daughter, Jaime Reavis.

James was a proud graduate of A.L. Brown High School, Class of 1953. After serving honorably in the Marine Corps, James followed a life of learning. He spent his career running an advertising agency for two decades for health care clients.

James also had a deep love of cooking, once enrolling in a French culinary course simply for the joy of mastering the craft. Whether he was preparing a favorite dish or experimenting with something new, his meals were always amazing.

Photography was another lifelong passion. He once traveled to Scotland to take a course and sharpen his skills behind the lens. Whether it was a landscape, a street scene, or just something that caught his eye, he loved capturing beauty in everyday moments. He also worked as an illustrator, creating detailed artwork for companies, a perfect blend of his creative and technical talents.

In addition to his artistic side, James enjoyed target shooting and was an avid reader. Books were his constant companions, and he never passed up a good story or the chance to learn something new.

Travel was one of his great joys, and he shared many wonderful adventures through Europe with his beloved wife, Nancy.

Those left to cherish his memory include his son, Chris Reavis; daughter, Jill Winninger; stepson, Kyle Taylor; and grandchildren, Cooper Reavis, Mollie Winninger, Dan Shekleton, Jim Shekleton, Jessi Shekleton, and Effy Reavis.
