James A. Lazenby, age 79, of Concord, peacefully passed away on September 22, 2025, at Atrium Health Cabarrus. Born on September 15, 1946, in Cabarrus County, he was the son of the late George A. Lazenby and Cora Robinson Lazenby.
James graduated from A.L. Brown High School, class of 1964, and went on to serve his country honorably as a Corporal in the U.S. Marines during the Vietnam War. After his service, he enjoyed a successful career, retiring as a production supervisor from Bowers Fibers in Charlotte, also he worked briefly for Homan & Mooney & Law Engineering . His passion for racing led him to work briefly as a gas man for the Phoenix Race Team in NASCAR. In addition to racing, he cherished the time spent deer hunting with his friends.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 43 years, Brenda R. Lazenby. James is remembered fondly by his daughter, Lisa Seagraves, and his three grandchildren, Shannon Clontz (David), Dylan Seagraves (Emily), and Tyler Seagraves (Sarah). He also leaves behind three great-grandchildren, Gabriella, Abigail, and Aiden, along with his sister, Patty L. Shannon (Keith), and many cherished cousins.
A graveside service will be held on Monday at 11:00 AM at Sunset Memory Gardens, located at 8901 Lawyers Road, Charlotte, NC 28227. Friends and family are invited to visit on Sunday from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Whitley’s Funeral Home.

James will be dearly missed and remembered for his loving spirit and the joy he brought to the lives of those around him.
