Jack Dempsey Jones,95, of Kannapolis, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 31, 2026.

Jack was born on November 26, 1930, in Buncombe County. He was a cherished son of the late Winfred Lee Jones Sr. and Martha Jane Gibbs Jones. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Lou Ewing Jones; brothers, Bill Jones, Winfred Lee Jones Jr., Morris R. Jones, and Joe Jones; sisters, Ruby Powell and Dixi Jordan.

Jack will be remembered for his kind heart, independent spirit, and love of bluegrass music. He had a special gift for building and fixing just about anything, and found peace working in the garden.

Those left to cherish his memory include his brothers, Clyde C. Jones and Charles Jones; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, James and Yvonne Ewing; and many loving nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 1:00pm to 2:00pm on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at Whitley’s Funeral Home in Kannapolis. The funeral service will begin at 2:00pm in Whitley’s Chapel with Rev. Thomas Gibbs officiating. Burial will be at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis.
