Henry Guy Hunter, age 82, of Enochville, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at his home.
Born on July 13, 1943, in Cabarrus County, Henry was the beloved son of the late Henry Perry Hunter and Nettie Mae McIntyre Hunter.
A proud U.S. Army veteran, Henry honorably served during the Vietnam War and was awarded the Purple Heart in recognition of his bravery. Following his service, he dedicated many years to working at Cannon Mills until the company’s closure. Henry cherished spending time outdoors, enjoyed working on his car, and had a great love for his dogs and chickens. He was a devoted and active member of Faith Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon and contributed by teaching Sunday School and participating in the Bus ministry.
Henry was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Frontus Eugene, Timmond Legrand, Jerry Arnold, and Alan Hunter, as well as his son-in-law, Tracy Hatley.
He is lovingly remembered by his wife of 63 years, Barbara Barnes Hunter; his daughter, Melody Hunter Hatley; his son, Timmy Blake Hunter and wife Suzanne; grandchildren Anna Keener, Chase Hatley, Chance Hatley, Cheyanne Hunter, and Blake Hunter; and great-grandchildren Hunter Blake Hatley and Jacqueline Odessa Hatley.
A graveside service honoring Henry’s life and service will be held at 9:00 AM on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, at Salisbury National Cemetery, with Rev. James Pauley officiating and military honors.
Family and friends are invited to visit from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Sunday, March 15, 2026, at Whitley’s Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Faith Baptist Church, 904 Chipola Street, Kannapolis, NC 28083.

Henry Guy Hunter will be dearly missed by all who knew him, and his legacy of faith, family, and service will be treasured always.
