Hazel E. (Murph) Pope

Hazel E. Murph Pope, 92, died December 15, 2023 at Novant Health Thomasville after a period of declining health. A graveside service with military honors will be held at Carolina Memorial Park at 2:00 PM Tuesday, December 26, 2023 with Rev. Maurice Eagle officiating.

Hazel was born October 6, 1931 in Rowan Co. a daughter of the late Marvin B. and Mae Crotts Murph. In addition to her parents, Hazel was preceded in death by her husband, John "Buck" Pope, her two sisters, Dot Lisk and Shirley Goodman and her two brothers, Denny and Jackie Murph.

Hazel was a veteran of the Army, stationed in occupied Germany during the Korean Conflict. She worked for Wackenhut Corp. as a security guard until retiring.
