Gloria Janet Turner

Gloria “Janet” Turner, 65 of Kannapolis passed away Wednesday, December 3, 2025 at Atrium Health Cabarrus after a period of declining health.

She was born June 3, 1960 in Cabarrus Co. to the late James M. Tyson and Maxine Carolyn Harpe Tyson. Preceding her in death are parents and a nephew, Jeffrey Todd Abernathy.

Janet was a lover of pets (dogs), and helping pet rescue adoptions. She enjoyed spending time in the yard tending her plants when possible. She enjoyed going to the beach and had a wonderful time on her most recent trip to Las Vegas wth friends. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Those left to cherish her memory are a sister, Pat Abernathy (Joe), brothers, Wayne Tyson (Tracy), Charles Gibson (Marlisa), nieces and nephews, Ashley, David, Brenden, Justin, Jacob, Cyindi, and several great nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM Monday, December 8, 2025, at Whitley’s Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor David Franks officiating.

Visitation will be prior to the service from 12:00 to 1:00 PM at Whitley’s Funeral Home. Burial service will be private.

The family would like to thank all the staff from Atrium Health Cabarrus for their kind and loving care especially the PCCU and ICU staff during this time of declining health.
