Gail Susan Simpson Harvey, 74, of Kannapolis peacefully passed away at home Wednesday afternoon, November 6, 2024, after several years of dementia.
A gathering to celebrate Gail’s life will be held at The Brook Church on Saturday, November 16th. The family will receive friends from 12:30-2:00 PM, with the funeral service beginning at 2:00 in the church, conducted by Pastors Jon Harless and Bill Roberts officiating. Burial will follow the service at West Lawn Memorial Park in China Grove.
Gail was born January 31, 1950, in Cabarrus County, to the late Zeb Clay Simpson and Goldie Mae Riley Simpson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Lisa Renae Owings; brother, Lee Simpson; grandson, Cody Christopher Owings; and her sister, Rita Jean Simpson.
Gail was a member of The Brook Church in China Grove where she served in various areas, including the Advisory Team and JOY Group Leader. Her love for her church was evident by her faithfulness and her love for her God was shown by her love towards others.
Gail, along with her husband, Bob, was co-owner of Harvey/Owings Insurance Company in Kannapolis for 12 years. Previously, she worked for Harvey Allstate Insurance Agency for 16 years and for Allstate Insurance for 20 years.
A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, Gail had a great love for family and friends. She will be remembered for her giving spirit, her boldness in her faith and her wonderful ability to make people smile.
Family members left with cherished memories include her loving husband of 28 years, Robert “Bob” Harvey; her son, Chris Owings and wife Wendy; her granddaughter, Sarah Owings, of whom she was so proud. Additional family members includes stepchildren, Robert Brian Harvey and wife Connie, Kimberly Harvey Martin, and Christi Harvey Pannell and husband Robert; her step-grandchildren, David Thompson, Aaron Thompson, Stella Malony, Alex Pannell, Anna and Madison Harvey; step-greatgrandchildren, Colton and Bryce Thompson. Also left to cherish her memory are Mark and Tammy Dalton, former daughter-in-law.
