Emma Louise Overcash Walter (“Emmer”) went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, peacefully in her home surrounded by her loving family.
Emma was born on October 30, 1927, in North Carolina. She lived a faithful life devoted to God and her family. Emma was known for her kindness, strength, and unwavering faith. She faithfully played the piano at her church for many years and loved serving the Lord.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Turner Overcash and Janie Overcash; her husband, A.F. Walter Jr.; her son, Derle Walter; her granddaughter, Tanya London; brothers, Merle Overcash, Turner Overcash, W.D. Overcash, and Manual Overcash; and sisters, Pearl Overcash and Francis Davis.
She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Linda Walter; granddaughter, Kathy Belk (Tony); her daughter, Faye London (Reid) and granddaughter, Tisha; her son, Tony Walter, grandchildren, Tammy, Anthony, Timothy, and great-granddaughter Alexia; and son, Allie Walter (Tracy) and grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Sarah Russ and Mary Ann Tino; brother, Ralph Overcash; and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends who will forever cherish her memory.
The family finds peace in knowing Emma is now rejoicing in Heaven with her Savior. Her legacy of faith and love will continue to live on through her family for generations to come.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM on Sunday, May 31, 2026, at Whitley's Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held on Monday, June 1, 2026, at 10:00 AM at Whitley's Funeral Home in Kannapolis, officiated by Anthony Walter. Burial will immediately follow at Carolina Memorial Park Cemetery, 601 Mt. Olivet Road, Kannapolis.
The family would like to thank all of the hospice nurses who helped care for Emma and supported the family through this time.
