Edithe Daniel Slawson, 95, of Salisbury, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 12, 2026.
Edithe was born on April 6, 1931, in Davidson County. She was a cherished daughter of the late Marvin Faw Daniel and Maggie Pearl Daniel. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Malvin H Slawson; brothers, Lonnie, John, Marvin, Earnest, Arlie Lee, Robert, Gray, and Sherman; sisters, Katherine, Yvone, Virginia, Doris, and Faye.
Edithe was a longtime member of Calvary Baptist Church in Kannapolis, where she was very active. She taught Sunday School and helped prepare meals. Edithe lovingly crocheted blankets for newborn babies at local hospitals for countless families. She was also a wonderful cook who loved bringing family and friends together around her table.
Above all, she cherished her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They were the greatest joy of her life, and she treasured every moment spent with them. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Rick Slawson (Cheryl), Terry Baxter, Tony Slawson (Oak), Malvin Hugh Slawson II (Barbara), and Kim Smith (Chuck); sister, Pat Kirby; grandchildren, Kelly Kluttz (Justin), Nicholas Baxter (Heather), Danny Slawson, Tony Slawson Jr. (Morgan), Whitney Horton (CJ), Ricky Slawson Jr. (Sarah), Devin Smith (Erica), and Dylan Smith; great-grandchildren, Gabriel Kluttz, Truette Kluttz, Ava Baxter, Eevee Baxter, little Ricky Slawson, Shepherd Slawson, and Caleb Smith.
The family will receive friends from 11:00am to 12:00pm on Thursday, July 16, 2026 at Whitley’s Funeral Home in Kannapolis. The funeral service will follow the visitation beginning at 12:00pm with Pastor Tony Slawson officiating. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park In Kannapolis.
