Edith (Hatley) Utley

Edith Hatley Utley, 95 of Kannapolis left us for her heavenly home Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2019. A daughter of the late Samuel McKee and Cara Strube Hatley, she was born Dec. 10, 1923 in Cabarrus County. She retired from Cannon Mills Plant 1 Sewing room in 1986 and she continued to sew for the public.

She was an active member of St. Enoch Lutheran Church since 1952 exemplifying her love of the Lord through many positions such as Sunday school teacher, choir and Altar Guild.

Of her many blessings she enjoyed she counted her children, grandchildren and greats as some of her greatest and loved to share her love of Holden Beach with them.

A memorial service will be held at 6:30 PM Friday, Aug. 16, 2019 at St. Enoch Lutheran Church officiated by Rev. Dale Cline. Her family will receive friends prior from 5:00 to 6:30 at church.

Those waiting to welcome her home include her parents, her husband, whom she married in 1948, J. Edd Utley, daughter, Jane U. Lefler, son, Jimmy Utley, two sisters, Pauline Cruse and Marie Wilhoit.

Family members who will remember her love and gratitude are children, Jack Utley (Cherry), Joe Utley and Jan Utley Christy, 7 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren and a sister, Ruby Jean Furr.
