Douglas "Kevin" Davis

January 30, 1958 — December 31, 2023

Concord

Douglas “Kevin” Davis of Concord, devoted husband and father, passed away at the age of 65 on December 31, 2023. Born on January 30, 1958 to Anna Lee Davis and the late Douglas Stewart Davis in Aiken County, SC, Kevin grew up in Parkersburg, West Virginia. He graduated from Purdue University with a degree in mechanical engineering in 1981.

Kevin married the love of his life, Nancy, on September 14, 1985, after they met on a blind date. Kevin and Nancy built a beautiful life together in Concord, NC, guided by Christ’s love in their love for each other and those around them. Kevin and Nancy had a rare, timeless love for the 38 years they spent together. They were known to exchange love notes and slow dance in the living room. Whenever prompted, Kevin would happily calculate exactly how long they had been married, down to the number of hours. Their special day was the 14th, not only of September, but of every month. Kevin and Nancy’s home was the kind where laughter was often heard and ‘I love you’ always spoken.

Kevin and Nancy welcomed their only daughter, Meagan, in 1988. Kevin was perfectly suited for fatherhood. With seemingly boundless energy, he was always ready to play a sport, invent a new game, or tell a silly joke. His goofy “big kid” nature brought joy not only to his family, but also to his friends and neighbors in the cul-de-sac. Kevin and Meagan shared a special bond and a love for many hobbies over the years, especially tennis and music. Over the years, Meagan has considered her parents’ devotion to one another as a foundation for her values and a model for her life.

For 4 decades, Kevin worked diligently as a quality engineer, with a deep commitment to his work and his colleagues. In recent years, his work took him to many places around the world, including Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, Canada, and the United Kingdom. Still, what he treasured most was his time with family.

Family members left with many cherished memories include Kevin’s loving wife, Nancy Davis, of Concord; his daughter, Meagan Davis, of Decatur, GA; his mother, Anna Lee Davis, of Louisville, KY; his brother, Billy Davis (Kim) of Verona, VA; his sister, Sandy Moore (Jack) of Louisville, KY; his sister, Sue Howerton (Kevin) of Gladehill, VA; his brother-in-law, Danny Thomas (Liz); his sister-in-law, Annette Carlyle; and beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and godchildren.

On January 13, 2024, the family will receive friends from 12:00-1:00 PM, and funeral services to remember and honor his life will begin at 1:00 PM at Whitley’s Funeral Home in Kannapolis. Burial will follow at Rowan Memorial Park, where Kevin will be laid to rest.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks you to consider a donation to Special Olympics of North Carolina ( https://sonc.net/support/give/ ).
