Donna Lynn Stone

Donna Lynn Stone, 62 of China Grove NC passed away February 17, 2025 after a short illness. Born August 4, 1962, in Havre De Grace, MD to the late Glenville "Pete" and Hazel Williams Hammons of Tioga WV. Donna is preceded in death by her husband Kenneth Stone, her siblings, Paul Hammons, Robert Hammons, Carl Hammons, Andra Cogar, Bonnie Mullens, and Virginia Kay Gero, and nephew, Larry Hammons.

 She graduated magna cum laude from Beckley College in WV with a bachelor's degree in business law and was a retired social worker for the State of North Carolina. Donna cared for all around her and was always willing to help in any way she could, she never met a stranger. She enjoyed gardening and feeding her squirrels. She loved spend time with her family and friends and always looked forward to her "Sister's Trip" every year with her sisters who were her best friends. She was a Christian and attended South China Grove Baptist Church.

Left to remember her are her son, Matthew Baber and wife, Tia, her grandchildren, Isabella and River of China Grove NC. A nephew, who was like a son to her, Robert Gero and wife, Janee. Surviving brothers are Linsey Williams, Boyd (Patty) Hammons, Dwaine Hammons, Choo Hammons and her twin brother Donald Hammons. Surviving sisters are Mildred Ervin, Shirl (Mike) Mick, Betty (Jimmy) Green and Connie Hammons and a multitude of nieces and nephews. As well as her special companion, Brian Suire. 

There will be a celebration of Donna’s life held at the South China Grove Baptist church fellowship hall on Saturday, May 17, 2025 and one held at a later date in WV. Donna chose to donate her body to science.
