Colleen Lavonia Robinette Wilhelm, 93, of Kannapolis, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 31, 2026.
Colleen was born on February 20, 1933 in Cabarrus County. She was a cherished daughter of the late John Wesley Robinette and Dolly Emo James Robinette. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband Leonard Ray Wilhelm; brothers, Oscar, R.P, Aurther “Short”, William, Roland, and J.W Robinette.
Colleen lived her life with a smile on her face and love in her heart. She never met a stranger and always saw the good in people. Colleen was always quick with a compliment and had a gift for making others feel special, valued, and loved.
She enjoyed dressing up, going out to eat, traveling with her beloved husband and dear friends Joyce and Ted Michaels, and caring for her many houseplants. Colleen especially enjoyed watching The Voice with her son, Doug, and was a longtime fan of Blake Shelton. She had a beautiful singing voice and loved to attend church.
Colleen was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who loved her family beyond measure. One of the phrases Colleen was known for most was simply, "I love you," words she spoke often and sincerely.
Above all else, she deeply loved her husband, Leonard, who was her soulmate and the love of her life. She cared for him with unwavering devotion. Colleen will be dearly missed by all who knew her
Those left to cherish her memory include her sons, Ronald Lynn Wilhelm (Debbie), Douglas Ray Wilhelm (Judy), and Michael Lee Wilhelm (Tammy); grandchildren, Ashley, Shannen, Logan, Troy, Tyler, Jamie, and Kristin; great- grandchildren, Kaylie, Mckinley, Shane, Malachi, Axel, Addison, Caleb, Kylee, Kinslee, Henry, Oaklynn, Harper, and Lainey.
The family will receive friends from 12:00pm to 1:00pm on Friday, June 5, 2026 at Whitley’s Funeral Home in Kannapolis. The funeral service will begin at 1:00pm with Rev. Randall Ritchie officiating. Burial will be at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis.
