With heavy hearts, we share that Claude “Dwayne” Sutherland passed away on January 30, 2026, after a long-term illness.

Dwayne was born on December 10, 1966, and spent most of his life in Enochville, North Carolina, where he became a familiar face and a trusted friend to many. He dedicated countless hours as a volunteer firefighter and first responder, always willing to show up for others without hesitation. Helping people was simply who he was.

He was known for being social, kind, and always ready to lend a hand. Dwayne had a deep love for classic cars and enjoyed sharing that passion just as much as he enjoyed good conversation and time with family and friends.

Dwayne is survived by his loving wife, Debra; his children, Michael, Steven, and Christie; and his grandchildren, Breydon, Noah, and Carter, who meant the world to him.

A celebration of Dwayne’s life will be held on February 5 at Piedmont Baptist Church, located at 5870 Wright Rd, Kannapolis, NC 28081. Friends and loved ones are welcome to gather from 6:00–7:00 PM, with a service to follow.

He will be deeply missed, always loved, and forever remembered for his big heart and the many lives he touched.
