Chrystal Brown Clendenin

Chrystal Brown Clendenin, 53, of Lexington, NC, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on August 25, 2025, after a long and courageous 23-year battle with Crohn’s disease and small bowel cancer. Throughout her illness, Chrystal remained positive, strong, and faithful until the very end. She passed peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family, as the gates of Heaven opened to welcome her into eternal rest, free of pain.

Born on July 13, 1972, in Cabarrus County, NC, Chrystal was the daughter of Taft LeGrand Brown (Marilyn & Paul) and the late Linda Gail Sossoman.

Chrystal is survived by her devoted husband of nearly 28 years, Terry Lee Clendenin, and their four beloved children: Steven Kyle Pennington (Taylor), Tyler LeGrand Pennington (Madison), Sloan Riley Clendenin, and Carson Young Clendenin. She was blessed with three precious grandchildren, Jayce, Ayden, and Hallie, who brought her endless joy.

She also leaves behind her brother and lifelong best friend, Ashley LeGrand Brown (Delette), as well as two nieces who held a very special place in her heart, Ashton B. Parker (Austin) and Chloe B. Ritter (Zane). Chrystal’s love extended to her many other nieces, nephews, and her cherished fur babies, Jax and Goose.

Chrystal’s faith, kindness, and unwavering strength touched all who knew her. Her family and friends will forever remember her radiant spirit, her resilience, and the love she poured into everyone around her.
