Carlos Palmer Baldwin, age 94, of Kannapolis, passed away Saturday, October 1, 2022. Carlos was born April 2, 1928, to the late Gordon Hunter Baldwin and Irene Webster Baldwin. He grew up in Burlington, NC and settled in Kannapolis where he and his wife, Mona Baldwin, raised their family.
Most famously, Carlos was known as the “Tag Office Guy.” His friendly, outgoing personality captured the hearts of many and in turn, they became the ones he affectionately referred to as “my many good friends.”
Carlos attended Trinity United Methodist Church, Kannapolis, where he held many leadership roles during his life and taught an adult Sunday school class for over 40 years. Through the Methodist Church, he served on over 50 mission trips covering Central America, South America, the Caribbean, and the Bahamas. Many of his family members accompanied him on these building teams where relationships were deepened and countless memories were made.
His hobbies included rehabbing rental homes, restoring old cars, reading, fishing, gardening, and sharing the fruits of that labor with his many neighbors and friends. He was energetic, fun loving, accepting, selfless, always generous with his time and love, and a man of deep faith.
Carlos is survived by three children, Scott Baldwin (Sharon), Bethany Beaver (Bob), and Kelly Baldwin; a daughter-in-law, Debbie Baldwin; five grandchildren, Matthew Baldwin (Tonia), Rebecca Sarine (Jeremy), Patrick Baldwin (Emily), Mallory Morris (Melissa), and Hunter Morris (Jenny); four step grandchildren, Britten Beaver, Brandon Beaver (Nina), Josh Gilchrist, and Parker Beaver; seven great-grandchildren, Olivia Sarine, Gabe Sarine, Ezra Sarine, Emma Sarine, Irene Sarine, Callahan Baldwin, and Bronson Morris; one step great-grandchild, Miko Beaver; a niece-in-law, Catherine Baldwin; a grandniece, Katie Baldwin; and two very close friends, Earl and Jeannette Coggins. He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Mona F. Baldwin; parents and stepfather, Sonny Burch; son, Mark Baldwin; daughter-in-law, Janie Boland; brother, GH Baldwin; sister-in-law, Patty Baldwin; and nephew, Brian Baldwin.
