Bruce Clanton was born February 7th, 1931 in Chesterfield S.C., The son of Rev. D.A. Clanton and Crete Sims Clanton. His family moved to Kannapolis in 1938.
He graduate from Winecoff High School in 1949, joined the U.S. Navy in 1951, serving in Alaska for 1 ½ years and also aboard the U.S.S. Ajax out of San Diego. The ship had duty in Korea and Japan but visited other ports such as Singapore, Philippines and Hawaii. He was honorably discharged in March 1955. He studied at Gardner Webb College in Boiling Springs, NC from 1955 to 1957, which at the time was a two year college. In 1957 he started his employment career with Retail Credit Co. until 1964, when he left to join the U.S. Post Office in Concord NC where he worked both as a clerk and carrier. Then in December 1966 he began his career in insurance sales with Allstate insurance Co. working out of their Concord office. He Retired in December 1998 as a senior Account Agent with 32 years of service. While there he won numerous awards and trips for above average sales and service. But above that he made a lot of life-time friends, which he was most proud of. Since retirement he and his lovely wife, Linda Barker Clanton, whom he married in 1991 in Hawaii enjoyed traveling. They also enjoyed being active as members of the Kannapolis YMCA.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Clanton and also by his daughter Kelly and husband Tony Hinson of Concord. Step daughters Amy Barker Bowlin and husband Rodney and Tracy Barker of Kill Devil Hills, NC and fiancé Dave Vance.

A visitation will be held on Friday, September 4, from 2:30 to 4:00 at Whitley’s Funeral Home In Kannapolis, Chapel Service to Follow.
