Brenda Lee Hudspeth passed away surrounded by her loving family on January 23, 2024, ending an extended battle with Parkinson’s disease. Brenda was born on June 14, 1940 in Gastonia, NC to Austin and Lois Lee. She is preceded in death by her parents, and sister, Gail Lee Haney.
While living in Gastonia, Brenda was an active member of Temple Baptist Church, where she met and later married Robert Hudspeth. They married in 1960 and recently celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary. Brenda and Bob moved to Concord, NC in 1967.
Brenda was a graduate of Frank L Ashley High School where she excelled in English and loved learning shorthand. Following several administrative assistant positions in Gastonia, she parlayed those skills into a 30 year career with the Kannapolis City Schools Administrative Office.
In addition to her parents Brenda was preceded in death by her brothers-in-law; Willard Haney and Buck Watson
Brenda is survived by her husband, Robert Hudspeth, two daughters - Lynne Hudspeth Foard (Tom), and Shelly Hudspeth Collins (Greg). She was blessed with 5 grandchildren; Drew Foard (Nicole), Allie Foard Lewnes (Nathan), Kayla Collins, Emily Collins (Taylor), and Faith Collins Evans (Andrew) as well as 3 great-grand children; Mason Foard, Niya Collins and Sadie Evans.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 27th from 12:30 PM until service time at 2:00 PM at Brookdale Baptist Church, located at 2511 S. Ridge Ave in Kannapolis, NC 28083 with Pastor Jonathan Barnette officiating. Internment will then ensue at Carolina Memorial Park at 601 Mt. Olivet Road, Concord, NC. Brenda treasured her church and church family and would have appreciated those wishing to make a donation in lieu of flowers to please donate to Brookdale Baptist Church at the above address.
