Bobby & Sylvia Moss

On Friday, July 24, Bobby Eugene Moss peacefully entered the presence of his Lord and Savior. Just two days later, on Sunday, July 26, his beloved wife, Sylvia Williams Moss, followed him to their eternal home in Heaven.

Love stories are not measured simply by the number of years that a couple may share, but by the faithfulness with which they are lived. After walking hand in hand through life’s joys and sorrows for seventy years, Bob and Sylvia departed this earthly life only two days apart, and their lives were a beautiful testimony of unwavering love, steadfast faith, and God’s enduring grace.

Bobby, the youngest of eleven children, was born on May 30, 1936, in Cabarrus County to the late Ervin and Lona Faggart Moss. Sylvia was born on August 11, 1938, in Mecklenburg County to the late Commodore and Margie Sherrill Williams.

On July 2, 1955, Bobby and Sylvia began a journey together that would span seven remarkable decades. They recently celebrated their 71st wedding anniversary with a candlelight dinner, a milestone that reflected a lifetime of love, commitment, sacrifice, and faithfulness. Together they built a home filled with love, laughter, and Christian values, and they were blessed with one daughter, Angela Dawn Moss Godwin, who was the joy of their lives.

Bobby faithfully dedicated many years of service to Concord Telephone Company, while Sylvia devoted her career to serving the citizens of Cabarrus County through the Cabarrus County Clerk of Court. Although they worked hard, they delighted in life’s simple blessings. They treasured time spent at their lake house, where family and friends gathered to enjoy boating, water skiing, laughter, and countless cherished memories. They also loved traveling together, sharing adventures wherever life led them, and occasionally trying their luck at the casino.

Bobby and Sylvia cherished one another. Their marriage was marked by unwavering devotion, quiet sacrifice, and unconditional love. They found their greatest happiness in their family. Their daughter, Angela Dawn, was the light of their lives, and their beloved grandson, Isaac Eugene Godwin, was one of God’s greatest gifts to them. Watching him grow into the man he is today, brought them immeasurable joy and immense pride.

Their love for Christ guided the way they lived, loved, and served others. As faithful members of Epworth United Methodist Church in Concord, they quietly lived out their faith through kindness, generosity, humility, and a deep love for their family. Their lives reminded all who knew them that a Christ-centered marriage is one of God’s most beautiful blessings.

They were preceded in death by Bobby's siblings: James Leroy Moss, Raymond Moss, Carl H Moss, Hoy Moss, Coy Moss, John Moss, Ruth Allman, Nadine Whitley, Willie "Bill" Moss and Mary Elizabeth Widenhouse; and Sylvia's brother, Frank Williams.

Though their family grieves the loss of two extraordinary lives, they rejoice in the assurance that Bobby and Sylvia are together again, reunited in the presence of their Savior, where there is no more pain, no more sorrow, and love endures forever.

Those left to cherish their precious memory include their daughter, Angela Dawn Moss Godwin; their grandson, Isaac Eugene Godwin; Sylvia’s brother, Wayne (Libby) Williams; along with many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends whose lives were richly blessed by knowing them. They also leave behind their cherished doggies, Sissy and Elvis.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, August 8 at 1:00 pm at Carolina Memorial Park with Evangelist Gladys Woodward and Rev. Dennis Marshall officiating.
