Betty Ruth Slough Scercy, 87, of Kannapolis, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 29, 2026.

Betty was born on October 21, 1938, in Cabarrus County. She was a cherished daughter of the late Odell Slough and Jettie Smith Slough. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John Clement Scercy.

Betty was a beloved member of Bethpage United Methodist Church and a lady of strong faith.

She loved gardening and flowers, reading, and most of all, spending time with her grandchildren. She also had a gift for creativity and spent her career as a talented seamstress. Betty was even able to designing and create beautiful clothing.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Kelly Dennis, Michael Scercy, David Scercy, Phillip Scercy; grandchildren, Carson Garvin, Madison Aquino, and Jaxon Scercy; and her sister, Bobbie Allman.

The family will receive friends from 4:00pm to 5:00pm on Wednesday, October 7, 2026 at Whitley’s Funeral Home in Kannapolis. The memorial service will immediately follow the visitation beginning at 5:00pm in Whitley’s Funeral Home Chapel.
