Betty Jean Austin Pipkin, 90, of Concord, passed away on Thursday, June 18, 2026, at Morningside Assisted Living Center.

Betty was born May 26, 1936, in Iredell County, North Carolina to the late Zeb Vance Austin and the late Ethel Mae Miller Austin.

She was also preceded in death by son, Zeb Pipkin and brothers, Jessie V. Austin, James P. Austin, and Edgar Austin.

The memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at 3:30 PM at Morningside Assisted Living Center in Concord officiated by Pastor Jonathan Barnette.

Survivors include husband of 74 years, John Clifford Pipkin of Concord; daughters, Wendy Pipkin and Dorothy “Dotty” Pipkin; and nieces, Sharron Helms, Becky McCarthy, and Amanda Hunter.

Betty was a gifted quilter whose beautiful creations reflected her patience, creativity, and love for others. She also found great joy in cross-stitch. Above all, Betty was a devoted wife, a loving mother, and the heart of her family. She was deeply dedicated to her husband and daughters. Betty faithfully served the citizens of Cabarrus County through her work in welfare and social services for more than 30 years before retiring.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff of Morningside Assisted Living Center and Hospice & Palliative Care of Cabarrus County for the exceptional care, comfort, and support they provided to Betty and her family.
