Obituary: Bessie Lee Burris Williams, 98, of Kannapolis went to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 20, 2019 at Caremoore Retirement Center following a period of declining health. Bessie was born August 30, 1920 in Montgomery County, NC a daughter of the late Martin Hayes Burris and Mary Elizabeth Hinson Burris. Also preceding her in death were husbands, Herman Monroe Eddings and Shorty Gilmer Williams along with a daughter, Jane Ellen Knight. She was an active member of FirstWesleyan Church as long as her health allowed. She was a member of the church choir. Bessie worked for many years at Neta's Children's Shop. She later worked and retired from the cafeteria at Cannon Junior High School. She was a loving Christian mother. Family members left to cherish her memory are one son, Hayes Eddings of Kannapolis, six grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren. She is also survived by one nephew, Farrell Ridenhour and a niece Shirley Drye. Funeral services to celebrate her life will be held 2:00 P.M. Monday, June 24, 2019 at First Wesleyan Church, Kannapolis conducted by Rev. Scott Wheeler. Interment will follow in Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Sunday, June 23, 2019 at Whitley's Funeral Home from 6:00 P.M.-8:00 P.M. Memorials may be made to First Wesleyan Church, 301 Bethpage Rd, Kannapolis, NC 28081. Whitley's Funeral Home is serving the family of Mrs. Williams.
