Becky Ritchie Lyman, age 77, of Landis, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 18, 2025, at Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis.
Born in Rowan County, Becky was the daughter of the late Alis Ritchie and Sally Emmlaine Hart Ritchie. Throughout her life, Becky exemplified the spirit of caregiving, devoting herself to the well-being of others. Her home was often filled with children, as she lovingly raised countless nieces, nephews, grandchildren, cousins, and her own children. In addition to nurturing her family, she also provided compassionate care for several elderly couples, demonstrating her boundless love and generosity.
Becky had a deep passion for nature. In her younger years as a caregiver, for the late Lamont & Whittaker Goodnight, Becky enjoyed running and caring for their greenhouses. At home, tending her own flower beds and gardens was also a love of hers. Her legacy of selflessness and devotion will be profoundly missed by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Walt Lyman; her daughter, Gina Campbell; her brother, Charles Ritchie; and her sister, Nancy Simmons.
Becky leaves behind a legacy of love through her two sons, Chris Lyman (Kristina) and Darin Lyman; her cherished grandchildren, Nikki Watts (Brandan), Caleb Hilton (Josh), Isaiah Lyman, Rachel Lyman (Bobby), Cheyenne Hinson, Amanda Holte (Kasey); two nieces, Amy Bost (Brant) and Angie Morgan (John) who were like daughters to her; as well as her 12 great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at West Lawn Memorial Park, officiated by Randy Fleming. The family will receive friends for visitation on Monday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Whitley’s Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Cabarrus, 5003 Hospice Lane, Kannapolis, NC 28081.
