Banks Eugene "Gene" Cavin

Banks Eugene "Gene" Cavin, 92, passed away on May 28, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He had been in declining health for several years.

 Gene worked as a young man with his dad drilling wells. He then worked at Cannon Mills for a while before moving on to plumbing and electrical work until his retirement. Gene was a hardworking and loving father. He enjoyed fishing and had a love for country and bluegrass music. He used to have get-togethers where folks would play music and keep everyone entertained. 

Gene was preceded in death by his parents Banks Young Cavin and Bessie Cagle Cavin, and his beloved wife Ollie Rodgers Cavin. Also preceding him in death were all his brothers and sisters: Charles Cavin, James Cavin, Ballard Cavin, Wade Cavin, Edith Adams, Annie Wilhite, Dorothy Bowen, and Eleanor Smith. Left to cherish his memory are his caring children, Kenneth (Linda), Thomas (Dawn), and Kathy Cavin; grandchildren, Rodney and Michael Lowder, and great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Johnson.

 Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the Visitation on Monday, June 2nd from 10 am to 11 am at Whitley's Funeral Home followed by a funeral service in the Whitley's Chapel. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis.
