Audrey Marie Hughes, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on August 10, 2026, concluding a life marked by devotion to family, enduring strength, and steadfast character. Born on December 13, 1937, Audrey's journey through nearly nine decades was distinguished by the meaningful relationships she built, the values she exemplified, and the legacy she leaves behind in the hearts of her loved ones.
Audrey was the beloved daughter of the late Charles and Beatrice Frye. She grew up surrounded by a vibrant, close-knit family and developed bonds that would shape her perspective and compassion throughout her life. She is also predeceased by her brothers, Jim Frye, Ray Frye, and Joe Frye, each contributing in their own way to the warmth and unity of their family.
Throughout her life, Audrey’s steadfast nature and generosity stood as a testament to her upbringing. She shared a strong and devoted marriage with her late husband, Robert Hughes, whose memory she carried with her always. Together, Audrey and Robert created a loving household and raised four children who survive her: daughters Melanie White and Brenda Best, and sons Rodger Hughes, Brian Hughes, and Michael Hughes. Audrey’s nurturing spirit, sense of responsibility, and abounding affection for her family underscored every interaction and every milestone, large or small.
Audrey is also survived by her brother, Ed Fry, with whom she enjoyed many cherished family moments. Though her circle of siblings has diminished over time, her connections endured as a source of comfort and support. She was also blessed with 14 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren that she cherished deeply.
Family was at the core of Audrey’s life, and she devoted herself to her children and grandchildren, guiding them with patience, grace, and wisdom. Her home was a place of welcome, warmth, and gentle counsel. Cooking for her family was one of the many ways she enjoyed showing her love for them. Through the joys and challenges of life, Audrey provided her family with a strong foundation of love and stability.
