Audrey Childers

Audrey Childers, 84, of Kannapolis, passed away Thursday, December 19, 2024 at her home.

She was born February 24, 1940 in Fayette County, PA to the late Clarance Richter and Nellie Walker Richter.

Audrey was a loving wife and mother and sister, she enjoyed working crossword puzzles, singing at church, flower gardening, she learned to play the piano after she turned 60, and for many years she baby set for many children. Audrey will be dearly missed.

She was preceded in death by her husband John Edward Childers Sr. and a son David Wayne Childers, brothers; Richard, Leroy, and Ralph Richter and sister Delores Eutsey.

Those left to cherish her memory, a son, John Childers of Concord, brother, John Richter (Judy) of Ohio, sister in laws, Thelma Richter, Sharron, Linda, and Tonda Childers, friend Sadie Bailey, and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, December 23, 2024, at Whitley’s Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Tim Jernigan and Pastor John Lindsay officiating, burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park.

Visitation will be prior to the service from 1:00 to 2:00 PM Monday at Whitley’s Funeral Home.
