Arleen LuRay Benton Peele, 82, of Kannapolis, passed away on Thursday, April 9, 2026, at Mt. Pleasant House.

Arleen was born June 7, 1943, in Cabarrus County, North Carolina to the late George LuRay Benton and the late Theo Roberson Benton.

She was also preceded in death by her sister, Loneda Wiberg.

Survivors include daughter, Shalah Holbrooks (Mark) of Concord, NC; grandchildren, Sara Grace Hollingsworth (Ryan) of Kannapolis, NC and Ben Holbrooks of Concord, NC; and several nieces and nephews.

Arleen built a respected career as a house appraiser, working with several banks while also dedicating time to independent appraisals. Beyond her professional life, Arleen’s greatest joy was her family, and she rarely missed a sporting event, faithfully cheering on her grandchildren. Her compassion extended to the community through her volunteer work with Kitty City, where she helped find loving homes for animals in need. Arleen will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

A private family burial will take place at a later date.
