Obituary: Mrs. Frances Anne Wingate Little, 77, formerly of 1207 Rogers Lake Road, died at 9:23 a.m. on June 17, 2019, following several years of declining health. Services are planned for 2 p.m. Thursday, June 20, in the chapel of Whitley's Funeral Home. Rev. Joanna Hipp will officiate. The body will remain at the funeral home and the family will receive friends at 1 p.m. prior to the service. Born October 20, 1941 in Cabarrus County, Mrs. Little was the daughter of the late Thomas H. Wingate and Frances Lee Alexander Wingate and had made her home in Kannapolis for most of her life. She was a resident of Morningside of Concord at the time of her passing. She was a graduate of Stanly Technical Community College, earning her Associate in Applied Science degree at the age of 50. For the following 15 years, she was a licensed PTA (physical therapy assistant) for home health agencies in Cabarrus County. Her patients enjoyed her visits, as she had a special heart for the elderly, disabled, and children. Before her career as a PTA, Mrs. Little had worked for Central Motor Lines, Cannon Mills, and The Daily Independent, where she edited the Mini-Page and ran the annual Spelling Bee for the community. She had been active in Kannapolis as a member of the Pilot Club, Sunday School and Vacation Bible School teacher at First Presbyterian in Kannapolis, and Cub Scout Den Mother. Mrs. Little spent many years caring for her parents as their health declined. She loved her family, horses, the Kentucky Derby, the North Carolina mountains, her high school years at R-S Central in Rutherfordton, her time with the Kannapolis Bridge Club and the Senior Center Euchre Club. Mrs. Little was a friend of Rocky River Presbyterian in Concord. Survivors include her son, David, daughter-in-law Ann, and grandson Thomas, all of High Point; her sister Daphne, and brother-in-law Fred, Skidmore of Marion, niece Carol Skidmore of Marion, and nephew Eric Skidmore and family of Martinez, GA.
