Obituary: Adolphus "Buck" Castor, Jr., 82, of Landis went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, June 21, 2019 at his home after a period of declining health. His funeral will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, June 24 at New Hope Presbyterian Church in China Grove, with Rev. James Byers officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the church from 1:00 to 2:00 PM Monday prior to his funeral. Adolphus (Dolph) or "Buck" as his family called him was born June 10, 1937 in Rowan Co., a son of the late Adolphus Castor Sr. and Orphia McGalliard Castor. He was a lifelong area resident and veteran of the US Airforce. Dolph was a founding member of New Hope Presbyterian Church in China Grove, where he served as choir member, deacon, elder and Clerk of the Session. Dolph worked for NE Medical Center as an electrician and then as supervisor of facilities management. He retired in 2002, after 37 years of service. Dolph loved to fish, watch local school sports and take his family to the beach. He was fiercely proud of his family. Dolph was a godly patriarch, who leaves behind a legacy in Jesus Christ. His greatest comfort was knowing that every member of his family knew Jesus Christ as their personal Savior. In addition to his parents, Dolph was preceded in death by his sister, Susie Hodges and his son in law, Steve Allmond. Those left to cherish his memories included his wife of 62 years, Patsy Smith Castor of the home, his 3 daughters; Tammy Jones (Mike) of Gold Hill, Pattie Allmond and Julie Beaver (Mark), both of China Grove, six grandchildren, John Beaver, Cameron Beaver (Carrie), Calvin Jones (Kristin), Andrew Jones (Kimberly), Rebekah Jones and Kaitlyn Allmond Brooks (Josiah), four great grandchildren, Braxton, Hudson, Brinleigh and Ansley Beaver. He was also survived by his sister, Jill Hamel (Walt) and Mike Castor (Vickie), both of China Grove and John Castor (Pheobie) of Ronda, NC as well as many loving nieces and nephews. The family would like to express their sincere thanks to Davita Dialysis of Kannapolis and Hospice and Palliative Care of Cabarrus County for their loving care of Mr. Castor during his illness.
