Obituary: A.B. "June" Gulledge, Jr., age 89, of Kannapolis died Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at Tucker Hospice House after a sudden decline in health. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, August 4, at West Point Baptist Church in Kannapolis, with Rev. Earl Pennell and Rev. Charles Littlejohn officiating. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. His family will receive friends at Whitley's Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Thursday, August 3. June was born November 1, 1927 in Ruby SC, a son of the late Arlin B. Gulledge, Sr. and Beulah M. Boatwright Gulledge. He was a longtime area resident and a longtime member of West Point Baptist Church. Had had been active in the church as a choir member, deacon, Sunday school teacher and super intendent, R.A. leader and one time recipient of the church's "Father of the Year" award. June owned and operated Gulledge's Building Supply, where for 66 years, he served the community; helping local folks with their construction and home repair needs. He loved "Old Fords" and resting in his hammock by the lake when he was not busy at work. June was the Patriarch of the family. He held it all together. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother. June will be dearly missed. In addition to his parents, June was preceded in death by his grandson, Bryon Thomas Bradshaw and his sister, Thelma Jordan and 3 brothers, Beuford, Rhett and Jerry Gulledge. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Dorothy Hancock Gulledge, his daughters; Vickie G. Eudy (Jerry) and Pam G. Morgan (Johnny), all of Kannapolis, his granddaughters; April B. Harris of Mooresville and Summer M. Triompo of Denver NC. He is also survived by 3 great-grandchildren Chloe J. Harris, Sunny L. Triompo and Sawyer J. Triompo and 3 sisters; Margaret Stackleather, Joyce Jackson and Shelby Barnes and 2 brothers; Grady and Larry Gulledge.
