David Leon Swift, 58, passed away Wednesday, August 16th 2023 at his home. David was born September 29th, 1964 in Cabarrus county. He was the son of the late Raymond Leon Swift, and Mary Beauford (Harrington) Swift. He was preceded in death by his brother Donald Eugene Swift, and his sister Mary Jean Swift.
David was taken from his family far too soon. Growing up, David was a talented baseball player who “could’ve gone pro.” He later developed an interest in playing electric and bass guitar and eventually became an extraordinary musician. He attended AL Brown HS and then began to work at the former Cannon mills. After leaving the mill, he worked as a truck driver spreading road rage across America for many years.
David enjoyed fishing and loved to visit the mountains. He also loved to cook, especially grilling and everyone loved his BBQ. Words cannot express David’s love for music and he was in several bands throughout his life. He passed his love for music to his children who were inspired to play instruments as well. He loved his grandchildren dearly and was a natural born comedian. If you were around David you were always in for a good laugh. He was the definition of someone who would give you the shirt of his back. His altruistic ways helped and touched many lives. David’s love and laughter will forever be missed by his family and friends.
Those left to cherish his memories are the mother of his children, Angela Swift. His daughter Heather Swift (Zachary Monks), his son Caleb Swift (Anna Swift), his nephews Scott and Matthew Swift. His grandchildren Avalee Rackley and Harper Lyman. He was excited as both his Daughter, Heather, and his Daughter-in-Law, Anna, are both expecting.
The family will receive friends at Whitley’s Funeral home Saturday August, 26th at 2pm following by the funeral service at 3pm within the Whitley’s Funeral home chapel, conducted by the Rev. RJ “Beaver” Hammond. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis.
