Wade F. Sutherland

Wade F. Sutherland, 79, of China Grove, went home to be with his Lord on December 22, 2019.

His funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, December 27 at Canaan Baptist Church, Barringer Street, Salisbury with Rev. Bruce Graham, Rev. Jeff Maynard and Wade’s brother, Rev Bobby Sutherland officiating.  Burial will follow at Big Flatts Baptist Church Cemetery in Fleetwood at 3pm, prior to burial he will lie in state at Big Flatts Baptist Church from 2:30 to 3:00 PM.   The family will receive friends at Whitley’s Funeral from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, December 26.

Wade was born on August 3, 1940 in Ashe County, the son of the late Foncy and Ressie Sutherland. He was married to the love of his life, Janet Perry Sutherland together they shared a life of 60 years and was blessed with 4 children, 4 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.  He was a long-time area resident of Ashe County before moving to Kannapolis.  He has served in ministry as a Deacon for many, many years, and member of Canaan Baptist Church.   He worked at Cannon Mills, Watkins Building, and Isenhour Real Estate & Construction.   Wade enjoyed his family and friends most of all.  He was loved by everyone he ever met.  His hobbies included fishing, playing the guitars, gardening, and bluegrass- gospel music.  He was multi talented in multiple stringed instruments.   He will be dearly missed by his family, friends, and the residents of nursing homes where he loved to minister through song and visitation.   

He was proceeded in death by his parents, along with one sister Ruth Jean Andrews, and three brothers A.F Sutherland, Dale Sutherland, and Bud Sutherland, and his daughter-in-love Judy Sutherland.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife Sue Perry Sutherland, children Randy (Kim) Sutherland, Kenny Sutherland, Wanda (Mark) Broadway,  Angie (Brian) Hodge,  grandchildren Kenny (Brandy) Sutherland, Hannah (Brent) Black, Ashley (Dale) Baker, Amber ( Jamie) Bishop, three great-grandchildren, Bentley Sutherland, Olivia Black, and Monroe Bishop, brother Rev. Bobby Sutherland and sister Sandra Buchanan along with numerous nieces and nephews.  He was a great example to everyone of what a true Christian is.
