Ronnie Walden Obituary

Ronnie Therrell Walden passed away January 1, 2020 at Atrium Health Cabarrus at the age of 73.

He loved God and was a strong man of faith.  If you talked to him for more than a minute, his love for his family was going to become the conversation.  Over the course of his life Ronnie worked in several different fields but was educated and spent the majority of his career in the information technology field as a computer operations analyst for Celanese Corporation, Royal Insurance and Genix Group.  He was also employed by Northeast Medical Center and Hartsells Funeral Home.

Ronnie was an active member of Pitts Baptist Church and in recent years has served as deacon, greeter and Sunday School teacher.  Throughout his life, Ronnie served in the churches he and his family attended in many capacities including choir director which enabled him to share two of his life long loves for music and for God.

After retiring, Ronnie became a member of The Gideons International and served as chaplain of the local camp.  He also served as a volunteer with the Cabarrus County Board of Elections.  He kept himself busy as the "Mayor" of his local gym where he did not meet any strangers and made many lasting friendships.

He loved reading and travel.  He also loved vintage automobiles, airplanes and military history.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Arthur Therrell and Nancy Aileen Walden of Kannapolis, NC as well as his brother-in-law James David Bumgarner of Concord, NC.  He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Evelyn Joyce Walden of Concord, NC, sisters Shelby Bumgarner of Concord, NC and Mille Cress of Rockwell, NC as well his children, DeLeslie Kiser and husband Danny Kiser II of Concord, NC and Jason Walden and wife Jaime Walden of Lincoln, RI. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Taplin and Taylor Kiser and John, Matthew, and Leah Walden.

A visitation will take place at Whitley's Funeral Home from 4:00 p.m.-6 p.m. Saturday,  January 4,  2020.  A service will take place at Pitts Baptist Church at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 5, with burial to follow immediately after at Carolina Memorial Park Cemetery.
