Maxine (Hartsell) Petrea

Maxine Hartsell Petrea, 85 of Charlotte, formerly of Kannapolis went to be with the Lord on Monday, November 4, 2019 at The Haven In Highland Creek following a period of declining health.

Maxine was born September 13, 1934 in Cabarrus County, NC a daughter of the late Ralph Clyde Hartsell and Ethel Goodman Hartsell.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, John H. Petrea who died January 30, 2004, a son, Gregory Brent Petrea on June 18, 2004, along with three sisters; Evelyn Isennock, Lucille Hough and Helen Walser.

Maxine was a member of Parkwood Baptist Church where she was active in her Sunday School Class. She was a graduate of A.L. Brown High School. Maxine was employed at Atrium Health Northeast (Cannon Memorial Hospital) in the radiology department, later in the records department and then the Miriam Cannon Hayes Center with over 20 years of service.

She enjoyed working in her yard and spending time with her family.

Family members left to cherish her memory are her son, Mike Petrea and wife Pam of Kannapolis, two grandchildren, Marty Todd and wife Shannon and Amanda Alexander and husband Kenneth, three great grandchildren; Kayla, Austin and Ethan Todd, one great great grandchild, Matthew Todd and a nephew Lee Isennock.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 P.M. Saturday, November 9, 2019 at Whitley’s Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Rev. David Hayes. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. At other times the family will at the home of the son.
