Mary Ellen "Lita" "Pinky" Woods

Mary Ellen “Lita” “Pinky” Woods, age 74 of Kannapolis passed away Thursday, October 17, 2019 after a lengthy illness. Born on February 18, 1945 in Rochester, NY she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Ethel Dietz Weidmann.

Mary Ellen is survived by two daughters, Kassandra Rockstad of Kannapolis and Alexandra Woods of Durham; two granddaughters Kendall and Audrey Rockstad; a brother, Danny Weidmann; a sister, Joyce Becker; and numerous nieces and nephews who are left to cherish her memory.

Mary Ellen loved, more than anything, spending time with and spoiling her grandchildren. She also enjoyed seamstress work and loved hosting Super Bowl parties. It has been said with her outgoing personality, that she never met a stranger.

A memorial service will be held to honor her life on Sunday October 20, 2019 at 5:00PM at Whitley’s Funeral Chapel. Pastor Brett Whittington will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
